Terry Mackin continues his triumphant comeback to cycling with victory tonight in the Maxwell cup road race on the Annaclone Circuit.  The Banbridge CC workhorse started out in the second group with Mark Downey and Jonathan Buller six minutes behind the first group with James Curry, Paul Anderson and Chris Weir.  In group three Willie Mulligan, Michael Curran, Dan Purdy, Greg Massey, Don Travers and Noel Doyle had 9 minutes thirty seconds to make up to the front.  They were chased down by the fourth group containing Matt Adair, Charlie McConville, Kevin McAlinden, Stevie O’Hagan, Aaron Wallace Gareth Rogers, Tony Hare, Brian McGrath, Michael Piper and Damien McDonald at twelve minutes thirty.  In the scratch group, sole Banbridge CC representative Simon Curry rode with Paul McManus, Derek Hanna, Ronnie Smyth, Darren Weir, Stevie Baines and Davy McKnight to overcome a 16 minute gap to the head of the race.


With the rest of the field swept up by the strong fourth group led by Matt Adair and co., the Scratch group were unable to bridge the gap, with Terry taking it on the line from Don Travers.
