Open Racing update & Mourne Observer Cup Results

Wednesday, 2 June 2010

Banbridge CC's racing cyclist have been showing their worth with consistant placing over the last 2 weekends.  Last Saturday saw mixed fortune with some riders being invlolved and suffering a nasty crash on the last lap of the Groucho GP in Richill.  The flipside to that coin was a fine performance by Terry Mackin to secure 6th place, impressive given he has only recently been promoted to A3 status after a lengthy break from the sport.

The following day it was Michael Curran who brought home a great result with a super 3rd place in the ever competitive 'C' race at the Emyvale GP, showing a strong performance on the final climb  to the finish.  Only 24 hours later it was Peter Lilley's turn to perform and did so with a reliable 5th place in the Tommy Smyth Memorial. hosted by Ballymena RC on Monday Evening.

Sunday past seen a number of Banbridge rider tackle the challenge of the Bobby Crilly Memorial, famed for it's gruelling finish at the summit of Divis mountain.  Despite being active in an early race breakaway, the much improved Scott Daly showeed his form by climbing to a fine 3rd place in the 'B' race.  This result will go a long way to motivating Scott ahead of the 3-day Ras Dhun na nGall next weekend where he will take on the some of Donegals most famous and gruelling climbs.
