Banbridge CC’s Introduction to Cycling scheme at The Outlet has got off to a great start. With a varied age range of participants, all those taking part have had the fortune of great weather and the chance to ask questions and gain advice from the current Irish Espoir Champion. A member of Banbridge CC, Sean Downey, currently recovering from injuries sustained while racing for his professional under 23 team, VC La Pomme, of Marseille, France took some time out to visit the scheme and pass on some guidance to those taking part.
Speaking at the scheme on Monday night Sean was impressed by the enthusiasm of the younger participants and the interest shown by all. After watching some of the exercises, both on and off the bikes, Sean commented “I’m really impressed, I wish there was a scheme like this when I was younger and getting into cycling.” Praise indeed!
The scheme is currently half way through it’s programme with still a couple of weeks left, although another scheme is planned to run again from the end of July. Information on taking part in the scheme or registering interest for the next run can be obtained by contacting Aaron Wallace on 07713 147968.
